~Kindergarten

・Born into a family that loved '80s rock and metal.

・Received a collection of EUROPE music videos from grandparents and became a fan.
・From around this time, began to dream of being on stage.

Elementary School

・Avid reader, finishing a substantial number of children's (hardcover) books. Favorite book: The Neverending Story.

・Developed an interest in photography and received a single-lens reflex camera from my grandfather.

Junior High School

・Alongside my best friend, became captivated by the lifestyle of Hiroto Kōmoto, and my admiration for those who stand on stage became clear.

・Invited by a classmate to start a band. That very day, I bought a "Beginner's Bass Guitar Set."
・Since there was a METALLICA band score at home, I practiced a few songs from it.

・Picked up a folk guitar from a garbage dump.

・Received an electric guitar from one of my father's acquaintances.

・Tried drums during a club activity trial and enjoyed it, so I started practicing after entering high school.

・On a whim, visited the Louvre Museum Exhibition.
・Was drawn to Camille Corot’s Girl Arranging Her Hair and developed a love for Western art.

High School

・Purchased my current main instrument, a SPECTOR bass, upon entering high school.

・When a senior's band needed a guitarist, I learned guitar in two weeks and performed.

・My admiration for Hiroto Kōmoto led me to finally buy a harmonica.

・Joined the school's literary club and began writing short stories and poems.

・Shortly after turning 16, went on a short-term study abroad to New Zealand.
・Started dating someone who greatly influenced the formation of my "Enji" persona.

・Formed a band with high school friends and began playing bass and vocals.

・Started composing music to compete in a light music club competition where original songs were required to win. Wrote two songs but lost them.

・At 17, was gifted a MacBook Pro.

・Composed background music for the school's cultural festival play.

・Started playing the piano just before graduating high school.

University (2019)

・Decided to part ways with my partner upon entering university.

・Published two books on Kindle within a few months: the short story collection From the Beginning to the Beginning and the poetry collection Heaven's Death Sentence.

・Began practicing Asalato.

・Played a demo of See you in the Dream for a friend, who said, "I'd pay money for this," which made me start considering the possibility of becoming an artist after graduation.

・Started practicing henna art and took requests for designs.

・Began writing Althé and simultaneously started producing music.

・Performed my first original song at a club recital. When asked by members if I would release an album, the idea entered my mind, but I gave up due to lack of material.

University (2020)

・At 19, COVID-19 pandemic began.

・In March, composed I still can Hear that Bell’s ringin’, which shifted me into album production.

・Joined ":lei" as a sound engineer and assistant director.

・In December, released my first album Stick to Winter.

University (2021)

・Released second album Quasi-Autobiography.

・Formed the rock band "Patina" with Aoki, with whom I collaborated on songwriting, and began working on an album.

・Disillusioned with a university that had lost all benefits except studying due to COVID, decided to take a two-semester leave.
・Worked diligently at part-time jobs and music production, but ultimately produced no finished works, leaving me feeling unfulfilled.

・In the summer, met Nodeng at a part-time job and began collaborating on Sepia Iris.

・A cocktail named Enji was born under the supervision of a friend who worked at a bar.

University (2022)

・In February, disbanded PATINA due to creative differences.
・Was deeply depressed after shelving a nearly 10-month recording project.

・Worked intensely on a solo album until summer break but couldn't complete it, eventually pausing the project.

・In the fall, formed the alternative band "SMUDGE" with members I met through my university music club.
・Started creating rough original songs, including No Quiet and SMUDGE.

University (2023)

・In February, took my first trip to the U.S., visiting North Carolina and Florida.

・Failed to earn a required credit in the fall semester and faced certain academic delay, which deeply discouraged me.

・From May, began producing an album with SMUDGE.

・In August, held a recording camp for SMUDGE at my home.

・In the fall, under Enji's engineering, released SMUDGE's first single Disgusting Beauty, followed by the second single Young Easy.

University (2024)

・Started streaming live performances via Corom.

・In February, took my second U.S. trip, performing nearly ten SMUDGE tour shows in San Antonio, Texas.

・In March, began focusing on social media, gaining 2,000 followers in six months.

・In April, released SMUDGE’s third single Alien on Alien Day.

・In May, performed live at Kyoto MUSE. Was invited on a Tokyo tour by the band Brocante, whom we shared the stage with.

・In June, released SMUDGE's first full-length album CAVERN.

・In September, embarked on a Tokyo tour. With a 12-string acoustic guitar in hand, played five shows, marking a major turning point for Enji.

・In December, released the second single Pain Goes Away, my first solo release in three years.
・For someone like Enji, who believes "artworks are signposts," going three years without releasing one was unthinkable, so I released it acoustically out of necessity.

University (2025)

・Unified my artist name from "Enji/臙脂" to "Avery Enji," establishing a unique online presence.

・In January, completed my final university classes and officially began the path of an independent artist.

・That same month, received a Vlog camera from a friend and started posting videos on YouTube.

・In February, started working part-time at SilverWings, a live house in Kyoto's Gion district.

・In March, graduated from Kyoto University of Foreign Studies, Department of French Studies.

・Also in March, released my third solo album Impatience.
